The Hillside Hornets won against the Southern Durham Spartans on Tuesday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Hillside walked away with a 57-50 victory over Southern Durham. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hillside.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Malone, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Malone also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Samiyah Barker, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Despite the defeat, Southern Durham saw an underclassman step up: Ashlyn Hudson dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Briana Hughes was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Hillside's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Southern Durham, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Hillside and Millbrook will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Millbrook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
