Northern Garrett has gone 8-2 against Southern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Huskies will head out to face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northern Garrett's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Hancock. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Robert Deatelhauser and Nick Riley were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Deatelhauser struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Riley pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Deatelhauser went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run, while Riley went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin McKenzie, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wally Brands, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Northern Garrett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern). Everything went their way against Tucker County on Tuesday as they made off with a 27-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Matthew McCartney made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Cade Leader was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Southern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Ryan Bird also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Northern Garrett's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Southern, their record is now 8-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northern Garrett hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .401. However, it's not like Southern struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Northern Garrett's way against Southern when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Northern Garrett made off with a 9-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
