Cromwell is a perfect 3-0 against Academy of Science and Innovation since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Ravens at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cromwell has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Academy of Science and Innovation will arrive with eight straight victories.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Cromwell and North Branford have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunderbirds.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-23, 26-28, 25-17.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Academy of Science and Innovation took on Comp Sci on Friday. The Ravens were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Academy of Science and Innovation was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-14.
Academy of Science and Innovation's win came from a few key players Cromwell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alisa Kandic, who had 12 assists and three aces. She has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ajla Jusic, who had six aces.
Academy of Science and Innovation was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Cromwell's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Cromwell took their victory against Academy of Science and Innovation in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
