The Broomfield Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Niwot Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Broomfield has five straight victories, Niwot has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Broomfield gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Centaurus 13-3. Considering the Eagles have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ethan Zufall looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Daniel Stapleton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was JC Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Broomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Niwot faced off against Erie on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 8-1 to the Tigers.
Niwot saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaige Kennedy, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Broomfield pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Niwot, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Broomfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Niwot struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
