It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Nash Central Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 56-28 victory over West Craven. Considering Nash Central has won eight games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Javaris Jones was his usual excellent self, rushing for 197 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. James Rodgers was another key contributor, rushing for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DJ Davis, who threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Brown, who gained 155 total yards and two touchdowns.
The win (which was Nash Central's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for West Craven, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Nash Central will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hertford County at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Hertford County's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last ten contests. West Craven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
