Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A South Puget Sound this week, Peninsula beat Decatur 40-6. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Bonney Lake scaled the state rankings by moving to 119 from 159 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to move up by topping Enumclaw 14-7.
Gresch Jensen threw for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 21-40 with 3 interceptions.
Nick Webster was a beast in the backfield as Lakes bested Auburn Mountainview.
Trevor Jensen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lions fell to the Lancers. The 6-foot-2 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Jensen put up the best numbers in passing as Auburn Mountainview lost to Lakes. Jensen's favorite target this week was Joey Cassano, who caught 6 passes for 176 yards.
Jared Gervis' team's Jensen and Cassano have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Jensen has thrown for 1,640 yards this season, while Cassano has 59 catches for 917 yards. Mauricio Portillo from the Hornets leads the league in rushing with 561 yards.
The Lions' Cassano is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 83 receiving yards against the Golden Gators to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 59 catches for 917 yards.
An important game coming up in 3A South Puget Sound this week will be when Enumclaw takes on Peninsula. As it stands, Mark Gunderson's team is in third, while Ross Filkins' team is in first.
The Seahawks took down Decatur 40-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
