The Central Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Baker Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Baker's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Central is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Walton just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 12-8 to the Braves. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Jaguars, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.
Jayden Joyner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Schmidt, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Baker couldn't beat Northview on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Gators took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs. While the Gators didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chiefs 6-1 in the first period.
Baker saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Lindros, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Justice Baldwin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Baker, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Baker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Central skirted past Baker 4-3 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
