The Harding County Ranchers will head out on the road to take on the Lemmon Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Harding County is ranked 79th, while Lemmon is ranked 58th).
Harding County suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dupree by a score of 54-52.
Despite the defeat, Harding County had strong showings from Cohen Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds, and Brennan Glines, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jarett Schuchard was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Lemmon had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Wakpala by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50.
Harding County's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lemmon, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Everything went Harding County's way against Lemmon in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as Harding County made off with a 70-44 victory. With Harding County ahead 37-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
