3A Region I District 4 recap October 22, 2013
Monahans moved up to 200 from 293 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 4. The Loboes were able to move up by besting Wylie 25-7.
Snyder lost to Big Spring 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. D'vincent Allison was a bright spot for the Tigers, as he ran for 150 yards in the loss.
The Steers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tobyn Tannehill threw for 146 and 2 touchdowns and Devin Roberson had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Tannehill chipped in 201 yards. Tate Kennedy helped Big Spring's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 50 yards.
Hayden Pulliam was a key player and the best on defense this week as Greenwood fell to Sweetwater. The 6-foot-2 senior forced 1 fumble.
Roberson was the best wideout in the league this week as Big Spring beat Snyder. Roberson tallied 5 receptions for 86 yards. Kennedy helped Big Spring's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 50 yards.
Phillip Ritchey's team's Tannehill and Roberson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Tannehill has thrown for 1,306 yards this season, while Roberson has 32 catches for 624 yards. Aubrey Sims' team's Allison leads the league in rushing yards with 1,310.
The Mustangs are in fourth place, while the Steers are in second place.
Monahans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,722 from 2,733. The improvement was largely due to a 25-7 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
