The Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers will face off against the Cheektowaga Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Timon-St. Jude will be strutting in after a win while Cheektowaga will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Bishop Timon-St. Jude turned things around against West Seneca West on Saturday. They came out on top against the Warhawks by a score of 7-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Ryder Kopacz and Ian Wasielewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Kopacz tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wasielewski didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Kopacz also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Timon-St. Jude is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise. At the plate, Kopacz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Wasielewski got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Wasielewski a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mattingly Goc, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Insera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Seneca West only posted an OBP of .233.
Meanwhile, Cheektowaga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They lost 10-2 to Lake Shore.
Cheektowaga saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Malkowski, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Malkowski has hit this season.
Cheektowaga's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop Timon-St. Jude has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cheektowaga struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts.
