Even though the West Pioneers have not done well against the Southeast Golden Buffalo recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West came out on top against Southeast by a score of 58-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for West.
Gavyn Phillips was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Phillips has scored at least 25% of West's points. Another player making a difference was Rob Basks Jr, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
West now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Southeast, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
West will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bishop Carroll at 7:15 p.m. As for Southeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
