While losing is never fun, Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 305th in North Carolina, while West-Oak is ranked 103rd in South Carolina).
West-Oak's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harry Burgess, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. Anthony Kaliski was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 assists.
Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for West-Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highlands will take on Rosman at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West-Oak, they will head out on the road to face off against Calhoun Falls Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
