The Elkton Golden Elks suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Havre de Grace 49-20. Elkton has struggled against Havre de Grace recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Elkton saw an underclassman step up: Madison Wright scored three points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Elkton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Havre de Grace racked up ten assists.
It was another big night for Azareya Whiting, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds for Havre de Grace. Whiting is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ryleigh Curry was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Elkton's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Havre de Grace, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
