Even though The Glendale Cardinals scored an imposing 40 points on Friday, the Peoria Panthers still came out on top. Peoria strolled past Glendale with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Peoria.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peoria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javon Bell, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Bell is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Dontay Tyson jr was another key contributor, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Loss or not, Glendale got some senior leadership from Zechariah Owens who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries and Jesus Garcia who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Garcia was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Greg Miller was in the mix as well, providing Glendale with two touchdowns.
Peoria's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peoria will take on Moon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Glendale, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Youngker at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Youngker is ranked 80th, while Glendale is ranked 86th).
