The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Braunfels, who took down 317th ranked Canyon, 30-27.
Smithson Valley extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 25 this week by beating San Marcos, 35-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
The Rattlers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zack Sterling threw for 107 yards and Brandon Matlock had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Jonoah Fabian chipped in 66 yards. Fabian helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching two balls for 31 yards.
San Marcos' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rattlers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sterling has thrown for 361 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Matlock has four catches for 160 yards. Fabian leads the league in rushing with 541 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Smithson Valley takes on second place Judson. Smithson Valley beat San Marcos last week, while Judson bested Wagner.
The Unicorns moved up to 396 from 467 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region IV District 25. New Braunfels was able to make the jump by besting the Cougars 30-27.
