Basketball Recap: Emma Acton Key Part of a Team Effort in Broncos Win

Wauneta-Palisade won against Wallace last Monday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos came out on top against the Hitchcock County Falcons by a score of 54-45. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Falcons back in January, they had to take a 58-43 loss.

Wauneta-Palisade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Acton led the charge by putting up eight points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Acton a new career-high in boards. McKenna Doetker was another key player, posting eight points and seven rebounds.

Wauneta-Palisade was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hitchcock County only posted five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Hitchcock County lost, don't look at Madysen Carlson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 boards. That was a full 35.6% of Hitchcock County's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiah Johnson, who had nine points and five rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Wauneta-Palisade and bumps their season record up to 7-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Hitchcock County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Wauneta-Palisade didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-41 victory against Medicine Valley on the 6th. As for Hitchcock County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-38 win against Cody-Kilgore on the 3rd.
