The Penn Cambria Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Bishop McCort Crushers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Penn Cambria's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Westmont Hilltop 66-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Penn Cambria has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Penn Cambria saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Easton Semelsberger, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Carter McDermott, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop McCort ended up a good deal behind Bishop Carroll on Thursday and lost 70-51. Bishop McCort has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Penn Cambria now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Bishop McCort, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Penn Cambria strolled past Bishop McCort in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 77-61. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bishop McCort's Ethan Kasper, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.
