Warren and Stuttgart are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Warren Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to challenge the Stuttgart Ricebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warren will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Warren's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Camden Fairview 10-0. Considering the Lumberjacks have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Raeleigh Milton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Milton was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Charlee Wardlaw was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Haven Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive contests.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Stuttgart and Star City, and Star City kept the tradition alive. Stuttgart came up short against Star City on Monday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Ricebirds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Stuttgart's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Warren, their record now sits at 4-0.
Stuttgart's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warren has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Stuttgart, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Warren's sizable advantage in that area, Stuttgart will need to find a way to close that gap.
Warren couldn't quite finish off Stuttgart when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Warren avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
