Video: Stat Stars - Nov. 18Anthony Johnson of Scio (Ore.) had the top rushing performance in the nation last week, according to stats reported to MaxPreps, and he broke the state single season rushing record in the process. His effort highlights this week's National High School Football Stat Stars.
Johnson ran for 404 yards on 21 carries with six touchdowns in Scio's 70-36 playoff win over Salem Academy (Ore.). He currently has 3,487 yards on the season, which breaks the record of 3,415, set in 2012 by Aloha running back Thomas Tyner.
Meanwhile in Texas, Patrick Gonzales of Lutheran South Academy (Houston) completed 25 of 34 passes for 665 yards and nine touchdowns. Gonzales' effort is believed to be the fourth-highest passing total in Texas history and the most ever in a single game by a TAPPS quarterback. He also becomes the seventh quarterback to throw at least nine touchdowns in a game.
