The Tooele Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jordan. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Defeat or not, Tooele got some senior leadership from Ethan B rogers and Talon Shirley. B rogers almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds, while Shirley. scored nine points along with six assists and six rebounds. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dillon Polson, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Tooele were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 15 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandt Steed, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Steed has scored all season. Trent Benson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Tooele's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Jordan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Tooele will play host again and welcome Cottonwood, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cottonwood will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Tooele surely won't give up without a fight. Jordan will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Jordan is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
