Jefferson Area is 2-8 against Geneva since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Jefferson Area Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Geneva Eagles at 2:15 p.m. Hopefully Jefferson Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Jefferson Area got the win against Harvey by a conclusive 42-21. Jefferson Area pushed the score to 36-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Harvey cut but never quite recovered from.
Jefferson Area can attribute much of their success to Danielle Furman, who scored 13 points along with three steals, and Mia Contenza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Furman is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Kennidie Rogers was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Geneva unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Geneva has scored all season.
Jefferson Area's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-10. As for Geneva, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.
Jefferson Area came up short against Geneva in their previous meeting back in January, falling 47-38. Can Jefferson Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
