The Leggett Pirates lost against the Zavalla Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Leggett took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 58-24. Leggett has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Leggett still got an impressive performance from Tamera Henderson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Henderson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bianca Perkins, who scored eight points.
Leggett has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season. As for Zavalla, they pushed their record up to 21-8 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Leggett will square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookeland will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Zavalla, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. High Island comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
