The Kingstree Blazers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They slipped by Andrews 48-47. For Kingstree, this counts as revenge for the 67-59 loss Andrews walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Kingstree can attribute much of their success to Ja'Shaun Dorsey, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dorsey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Micheal Kelly, who scored eight points.
Andrews' loss came despite strong showings from Chris Stewart and Sharod Sumpter. Stewart dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Sumpter scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Cumbee, who scored eight points.
Kingstree pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Andrews, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mullins the next time they take the court. Andrews will host Mullins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Kingstree will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
