It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Jurupa Hills Spartans had no problem doing just that on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 win over Aliso Niguel. 28 seems to be a good number for Jurupa Hills as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Caleb Ruiz was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Jurupa Hills' defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Isiah Lizarraga and Jordan Pernillo who racked up four sacks between them.
Despite the loss, Aliso Niguel still got an impressive performance from Hunter Najm, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
Jurupa Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Aliso Niguel, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
