Basketball Recap: Ohatchee Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Ohatchee came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Saks Wildcats 56-34. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Wildcats are ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ohatchee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colby Hester led the charge by putting up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alston Carroll, who posted 12 points.

Ohatchee's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Saks, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ohatchee will finish 2024 at home by hosting Ranburne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saks, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jacksonville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
