The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Lockland has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lockland is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Shroder Paideia Academy, falling 15-4. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Panthers' highest-scoring game to date.
Miami Valley Christian Academy came out on top against Purcell Marian on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Lions walked away with a 10-5 win over the Cavaliers. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Evan Lafferty made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Miami Valley Christian Academy got a big performance out of Luke Autry, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Autry has posted over his last 13 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of James Bowling, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Miami Valley Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purcell Marian only posted a batting average of .258.
Miami Valley Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lockland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Lockland suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Miami Valley Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
