West Yosemite recap September 10, 2013
El Diamante's Keylan Liles recorded the longest rushing play in West Yosemite this season in his game against Sunnyside last week. Liles scampered for 81 yards on the play and finished with 111 on the day as his team topped the Wildcats.
Cort Groathouse and Trenton Mcghuey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Clovis. The connection went for 64 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Hanford's dynamic duo of Jake Young and Nathaniel Hunt proved tough for Monache to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Young threw for 202 yards and Hunt had 106 yards receiving. Dustin Vasquez helped Hanford's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 64 yards.
The Bullpups' dynamic duo of Young and Hunt proved to be unstoppable against the Marauders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Matthew Castro made the biggest impact on defense this week as El Diamante beat Sunnyside. The 5-foot-7 defensive back.
Young put up the best numbers through the air as Hanford defeated Monache.
Richard Doctor was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 176 yards on 29 carries as Lemoore beat Chris Likewise's team.
Hunt was the best receiver in West Yosemite this week as the Bullpups bested the Marauders.
6-foot-1 quarterback Demarrea Joyce of Mt. Whitney is the league leader in passing yards this season with 435. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hunt. The Hanford star has 14 catches for 169 yards.
Mark Rogers' team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Miners triumphed over Jason Murray's team 35-14.
