The Evangel Christian Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Huntington Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evangel Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Huntington likes a good challenge.
Evangel Christian Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Airline, who was ranked 25th at the time (Evangel Christian Academy was ranked 22nd). The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Vikings 51-49. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Eagles were down 28-14 in the second quarter.

Peyton Houston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 454 yards and three TDs while picking up 16.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 39 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Demarkus Evans also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Huntington, as they earned their first away win of the season. They strolled past Haughton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-28.
Huntington's win came from a few key players Evangel Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justin Whitaker, who threw for 303 yards and five TDs, and also rushed for 65 yards on only six carries. Adrian Johnson also helped out as he racked up 128 receiving yards.
Huntington's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Jaylin Morgan was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Evangel Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Huntington, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Evangel Christian Academy has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 365.5 passing yards per game. Huntington, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 177.2 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
Evangel Christian Academy and Huntington were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but Evangel Christian Academy came up empty-handed after a 28-27 loss. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
