After a string of seven wins, the Sardis Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 60-26 loss at the hands of Southside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sardis has scored all season.
Southside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Shaw out in front who scored 16 points along with five assists. The matchup was Shaw's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grace Anne rose, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Sardis' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Southside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Sardis will head out on the road to face off against Douglas at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Douglas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Sardis is ranked 86th). Southside will be home for the holidays to greet Alexandria on Friday.
