The Reidsville Rams will head out to face off against the Walkertown Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reidsville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Walkertown will come in with three straight wins.
Reidsville lost 12-2 to West Stokes last Friday.
Meanwhile, Walkertown's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They blew past Parkland 11-0. Considering the Wolfpack have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Caden Joyce made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Caleb Mobley looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dakota Larimore, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. David Olmedo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Walkertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Walkertown pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reidsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Reidsville skirted past Walkertown 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
