The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas''s five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 win over Sharyland. The win was just what Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest needed coming off of a 62-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Sharyland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Santiago Longoria. Despite the final result, he picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Bo Krell was another key contributor, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Sharyland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
