The Lafayette Lions will head out on the road to  challenge  the Acadiana Rams  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
Last Wednesday, Lafayette didn't have quite enough to beat Southside and fell  3-2. The  loss   continues a  trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Sharks: they've now lost seven in a row.
 Lafayette took Southside into a fifth set  but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18,  15-9.

 Lafayette's  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Avery Larpenteur, who  had 16  digs and 14  assists, and  Brae'Ona Smith, who  had 19  digs and four  aces. Smith is  on a roll when it comes to  digs, as she's  now  had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's  played.
Meanwhile, Acadiana made easy work of Opelousas  on Monday and carried off  a  3-0 victory.
 The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-9,  25-19.
 Acadiana's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of  Tuesday's  contest:  Lafayette has really dialed in their serving  this season,  having  averaged 9.9  aces per game. However, it's not like Acadiana struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 5.3  aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
 Lafayette beat Acadiana 3-1  in their previous matchup  back in October of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success,  or do  the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
