Owen Simmons made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ethan Simmons was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ahmad Abulatifa, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
J.H. Rose kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, New Bern fell victim to Hoggard and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 7-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
New Bern now has a losing record of 2-3. As for J.H. Rose, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
