The Triton Hawks entered their tilt with the South Johnston Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Triton walked away with a 51-41 win over South Johnston on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Triton also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Triton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nashara McNeil-Watlington out in front who scored 21 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which McNeil-Watlington has scored at least 25% of Triton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Niah Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Triton's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for South Johnston, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triton will take on Cape Fear at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cape Fear focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for South Johnston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
