Two dominant signal callers in Jaxon Schad and Keaton Johnson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Weiss Wolves will take on the College Station Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Two weeks ago, Weiss blew past Lockhart, posting a 54-3 victory. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Lions are ranked 788th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Weiss to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Moore, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Moore has been hot, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last five times he's played. Jordan Ibn Anderson-El was in the mix too, providing Weiss with two TDs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when College Station took on Lockhart on Friday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 45-14 win over the Lions. Considering the Cougars have won five matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Weiss better keep an eye on Trey Walton. He was instrumental in College Station's win, rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, while also picking up 39 receiving yards and one score. Walton has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise. Another receiver making a difference was Zak Cosser, who gained 37 total yards and two touchdowns.
College Station was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to College Station's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zahron Benford, Cole Flanagan, and Zan Stevens, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Weiss' record is now 7-1. As for College Station, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Weiss has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 313.4 passing yards per game. College Station, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 235.7 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Weiss came up short against College Station in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 44-38. Thankfully for the Wolves, Aydan Martinez-Brown (who rushed for 131 yards and four TDs, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
