The Heartland Huskies can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Fillmore Central by a score of 38-27. This was payback for Heartland, who suffered a 47-27 loss the last time these two teams met.
Heartland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Mierau, who scored nine points. Mierau continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Hiebner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Fillmore Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenna Mccoy, who scored ten points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Stassines, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Heartland's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Fillmore Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Heartland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Sutton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Huskies in Nebraska (the Mustangs are ranked 96th, while the Huskies are ranked 241st). Fillmore Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wolverines at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
