Wilmot extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-6. They fell 11-6 to the Elkhorn Elks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Elks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Monday.
Michael McCormick made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Elkhorn, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
On Elkhorn's side, Carson Lysaght made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Lysaght was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Keegan Bryant looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Elkhorn is undefeated when Bryant allows one or fewer hits, but 0-3 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Jackson Brazer was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Woller, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Coming up, Wilmot will face off against Zion-Benton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Zee-Bees have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elkhorn, they will take on Janesville Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
