The Poudre Impalas's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Monarch 71-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poudre in their matchups with Monarch: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Impalas players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Decker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Foster, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Monarch was led to victory by Logan Laverty and Tyler Carlson. Laverty scored 19 points along with two steals, while Carlson scored 22 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carlson has scored all season. Van Nellessen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Poudre has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Monarch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre will take on Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairview is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game. As for Monarch, they will head out on the road to take on Fossil Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
