The Freeland Falcons will head out to face off against the Hemlock Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Freeland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Central on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Sophia Price made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Emma DeShone and Jessica Meyette did most of the damage at the plate: DeShone went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Meyette went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave DeShone a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabel Cumper, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Freeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hemlock came out on top against Bay City Western on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Huskies put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Sage LaVigne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lyndsey Lyscas, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Gustin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Freeland's record is now 7-9. As for Hemlock, their record now sits at 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Freeland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hemlock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Freeland couldn't quite finish off Hemlock in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 12-10. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
