Fans got a thrill when Adin Trujillo and Alex Cortez connected against Bakersfield Christian. The connection was good for 85 yards, the longest such play in Central Sequoia this season.
Kingsburg added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kerman, 49-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Brandon Steele put up the best numbers through the air as Kingsburg defeated the Lions. He finished with 13 completions for 259 yards and 4 touchdowns. Steele's favorite target this week was Austen Hammerstrom, who caught 3 passes for 87 yards.
Cortez was the best receiver in the league this week as Exeter fell to the Eagles. Cortez racked up 2 receptions for 135 yards. Chad Zeibak helped Exeter's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 29 yards.
Michael Wright was the best running back in Central Sequoia this week. He ran for 197 yards on 16 carries as Dinuba lost to Bakersfield Christian. Omar Duarte also contributed to the rushing game with 98 yards on the ground.
He was 13-15 with 0 interception.
On the heels of Marcus McMaryion and Wright, the Emperors have had great success on offense. McMaryion is tops in the league in passing with 645 yards, while Wright has rushed for 804 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Selma's Herman Avalos, with 311 yards on 11 catches.
Central Valley Christian moved up to 379 from 487 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cavaliers were able to move up by defeating Chowchilla 39-18.
