  Sophie Gilmore and  Ines Ortigosa stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Gilmore  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-2, while  Ortigosa  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lennox Wiseman, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Springfield put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season  on Thursday. They never let Springfield Southeast onto the board and left with  a   16-0  win. The  victory was familiar territory for Springfield who now have four in a row.
  Kendall Knauer was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Emma Marcum, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 North Mac's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 9-7. As for Springfield, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  at home.
 North Mac suffered a grim  9-1 defeat to Springfield  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2021. Thankfully for North Mac,  Mallory Vespa (who   didn't allow a single  earned run over seven innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
