Meanwhile, West Mesquite never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over Seagoville. The Wranglers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Amberly Cruz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cruz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Nadia Juarez was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ava Garza, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
West Mesquite pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Mesquite, their victory bumped their record up to 4-16.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. North Mesquite has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like West Mesquite struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Mesquite skirted past West Mesquite 11-10 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will North Mesquite repeat their success, or does West Mesquite have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
