The Milford Mill Academy Millers will head out to face off against the Carver A&T Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milford Mill Academy has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 24.
Milford Mill Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Chesapeake on Monday. They lost 19-1 to the Bay Hawks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carver A&T). They blew past Overlea 27-20 on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Trevor Schnirel made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Carver A&T: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Wehrheim, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Carver A&T's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Landen Gendimenico, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Carver A&T kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Carver A&T and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.5 runs over those games. As for Milford Mill Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Milford Mill Academy suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Carver A&T when the teams last played on April 3rd. Can the Millers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
