5A District 6 recap October 8, 2013
South Sumter added to the longest winning streak in 5A District 6 this week by beating Pasco, 38-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Raiders.
South Sumter took down the Pirates 38-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Marcus Allen threw for 219 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 5-12 with 0 interceptions.
Christian Maner was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 60 yards as Nature Coast Tech topped Central. Cameron Syblis also contributed to the rushing game with 31 yards on the ground.
The Hornets' Allen and Dayonta Patterson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-9 quarterback Allen has thrown for 464 yards this season, while Patterson has 18 catches for 233 yards. The Bears' Robbie Bradley leads the league in rushing yards with 394.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Weeki Wachee's Patterson goes up against Pasco's Phillip Wilson.
One of 5A District 6's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Mark Lee's team and Tom Mchugh's team face off next week.
Next week's game between the Hornets and the Pirates will feature a good passing match up as Allen will test his arm against Wilson's defensive ability.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Inman Sherman's team takes on Hernando. As it stands, the Raiders are in first, while the Leopards are in fifth.
