If the Wakulla War Eagles were feeling good off their 69-24 takedown of the Wewahitchka Gators last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wakulla was beaten by the Bulldogs 54-24 on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wakulla in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: Amariyah Donaldson dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Donaldson is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Cherish Bolen was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
Liberty County had a senior duo take command as Gabriella Flowers scored 18 points and Caleigh Peddie scored 15 points.
Wakulla's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Liberty County, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Wakulla will square off against the Jaguars at TBD on Monday. Hopefully Gadsden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Liberty County, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Emmanuel Christian is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
