The Owings Mills Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 43-25 bruising from Dundalk. If Owings Mills hoped to take revenge for the 47-42 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Dundalk got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lanaya Valentine out in front who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and seven assists. Valentine has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Owings Mills dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Dundalk, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owings Mills will face off against Randallstown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dundalk, they will head out on the road to challenge Lansdowne at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lansdowne has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
