The Oneonta Redskins and the Vinemont Eagles will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Oneonta is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, Oneonta was beaten by Cherokee County 60-32. While losing is never fun, Oneonta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Cherokee County is ranked 80th).
Vinemont has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Addison 65-33 at home.
Vinemont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Robinson out in front who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five assists. The contest was Robinson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Whitney Quick was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Oneonta's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Vinemont, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Oneonta against Vinemont in their previous meeting back in November of 2016 as the team secured a 60-27 victory. Will Oneonta repeat their success, or does Vinemont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
