The Marion Swamp Foxes had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Andrews with a sharp 55-35 victory. Given Marion's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Andrews is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamorius Wilson, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameir Legette, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Chris Stewart and Vincent Rhue certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Stewart dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Rhue scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season.
Marion's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Andrews, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Marion will be playing at home against Hannah-Pamplico at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 50.1 so far this season, Hannah-Pamplico's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Marion better be ready for a challenge. As for Andrews, they will head out on the road to face off against Kingstree at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
