There's no place like home for St. John XXIII, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 win over the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers on Friday. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Lutheran South Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Schepmann, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Natalie Browning was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

St. John XXIII pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Lutheran South Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John XXIII won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Pius X on January 14, 2025. As for Lutheran South Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pasadena at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th.
