DuQuoin has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
DuQuoin lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 68-33 defeat at the hands of Nashville. While losing is never fun, DuQuoin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Nashville is ranked 186th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Dwayne Wilmington, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Maynor, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Anna-Jonesboro's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 79-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vienna. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anna-Jonesboro in their matchups with Vienna: they've now lost four in a row.
DuQuoin bumped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Anna-Jonesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
DuQuoin came up short against Anna-Jonesboro in their previous meeting last Friday, falling 59-54. Can DuQuoin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
